After reading about removing batten strips and not removing them, I'm going out of my mind.
We just bought a 2006 model with those lovely wallboards
Can I just slap some joint compound over the walls (cleaned and preped) in between the strips to get a drywall texture while leaving the strips in place?
Do I use just any joint compound?
Or drywall mud?
Can you tell I'm new to this?

Regular joint compound will work, you may want to try adding some mesh tape in the gap. Use thin coats to minimize cracking.

If you have never done this type of work before you may want to do a joint that is hidden first to get the feel of it. Greg

I would use primer paint on the wallpanels before taping as part of the prep as well.

Hi,

I am going to lock this thread, this is the 3rd post on it.

Marriedanmobile, when asking for help/suggestions please keep all post together in one thread. It makes it real confusing to go from thread to thread.
