We were going to put in laminate in our 14 x 70 but it will cost us almost $1,000 if not more. We plan on living here until I am done with school so we don't want to put a ton of money into the house. We thought about putting in plywood floors and staining them. Has anyone ever done this? Here is a link to what we were thinking:

Hi,
Depending on the thickness of the ply, you need to make sure that it does not interfere with any door thresholds.
Will this be going over the existing subfloor you have now?
Again my concern would be in the wet rooms...for every tile application there are 4 seams.
BUT, I must admit I think the application looks great. Hubby and I have considered this application for our large master suite, 24x16 at it's widest point, 24x13 at the smallest point. This room is kinda "L" shaped. We had thought of laying the tiles in a harlequin pattern.
Let us know what you decide and please post some before and after pics.
