What do I need to record from digital TV?
It is connected to outdoor rooftop antenna. No cable or satellite.
To use vcr would require converter box. What other option do I have?
Thanks
Barb

I don't think you have any choice, the signal TO the analog VCR is digital, so I would think that the two would not be compatible at all with out a converter. Greg

Greg, I meant, is there another gadget I can buy? I don't know what a DVD OR DVR are.
I have one converter on an analog TV with converter. I use the vcr on that one.
I want to be able to record on a new digital TV in another room. I just don't know what new recorder device to buy for it.

I think the best advise I can give you is when you are out shopping, stop by one of the electronic stores and ask one of "Geeks". Greg

Hopefully someone more techy than I will correct me if I am wrong, but a recorder that will record ATSC high definition digital TV should be all you need. You can also feed your HD aerial antenna to a HDTV/Video card to your computer or even a USB2 HDTV/Video "bob" thing.

Seems like a recorder would be more straight forward for a non-techy person like me. The recorder will usually have it's own memory to record on and allow you to up the memory with USB bobs. You would have to look into how to get the movie/show from the recorder to a DVD if that is what you wanted to do. Going to a PC device would probably make making DVDs easier.

Here is a link to a PC device

Here is a link to a separate recorder.

You can research which would be best for you online. Here is a couple of links to get you going,

PC devices

Recorder boxes

Looks like prices vary from $60 on up. I would imagine you get what you pay for, but I don't know from personal experience.

Good Luck!
