Hi

My bride wants to go to Dollywood in Pigeon Forge, Tenn. Then on to Grand Old Opry then Graceland.

We've never been. Any suggestions?

Whatya want to know ?

Been to or around/near many, many times and live about 35/40 miles from Graceland.

You better have a good spending account for starters.

Also, hope you like very crowded places.

If those two are ok with you, then time to plan.

LOTS of fun and VERY beautiful and breathtaking scenery/sights, hence the crowds and expense.

Will definitely like to meet the two of you if you would like when you get to this end of the state (Memphis).

Can probably help you to stay safe in this end as well (Memphis).

Take care and best wishes,
Robert

Hi

On the $ this will be Christmas, birthdays and anniversary from each other for this year .... and maybe next year.

Looks like 4 days in Gatlinburg, 1 day in Nashville and 1 day in Memphis.

Fly into Knoxville, rent a car and fly out of Memphis.

We are looking at the cabin rentals in Gatlinburg. Is this a good idea?

The wife is a shutterbug so we'll have lots of photos. Will we see the leaves changing in mid October?

Some of the south Florida family may want to meet in Gatlinburg at Christmas time so we're going to recon the area.

Hi Harry,

Cabin rentals is the best thing for Gatlinburg, Pigeon Forge areas.

Mid-October is good time for leaves changing and lots going on then.

That is a VERY BUSY time for there, so getting reservations needs to be done fast.

You do not want to be in town, best to get a cabin between Pigeon Forge and Townsend.

We have always stayed just out of Townsend in a cabin.

I can get info on good place to stay in Nashville and I know where to stay in Memphis.

We will be gone on vacation Oct 2 thru 10.

Tell her there will be plenty of things to shutterbug at, LOL.

Give me ideas on what y'all like to do and I'll give ya lots of ideas.

Take care and best wishes,
Robert

Hi

Looks like Oct. at this point.

We'll be staying in or near Gatlinburg. We want to spend 2 days in Great Smoky Mountains Nat Park. Where do we go...in the park?

Hi Harry,

Gatlinburg, Pigeon Forge and Townsend form a triangle and are in fairly close proximity of each other.

Staying in Gatlinburg or real close will entail lots of traffic, noise, hard to park, high cost to park and a lot of mostly walking.

Where to go depends on what ya like to see and do.

Take care and best wishes,
Robert

Hi

We want to tour Great Smoky Mountains Nat Park for 2 days. Are there particular points of interest we should head for?

Thanks

Hi Harry,

Cades Cove between Gatlinburg and Townsend on the Townsend end. Old settlement, lots of animals for taking pics (pull over/don't stop and block traffic).

Down the mountain before getting into Gatlinburg is Cherokee, NC, lots of Indian stuff.

Roaring Fork drive through in Gatlinburg.

All the roads entering and leaving and between Gatlinburg, Townsend and Pigeon forge.

Lots of pulloffs along the rivers to see beautiful scenes.

As you enter Gatlinburg from Cherokee, NC or from Townsend is the Visitors Center, get lots of info and maps there.

When you leave the area headed for Nashville, you could stop at Fall Creek Falls for some more beautiful scenes and waterfalls.

It's about halfway between Knoxville and Nashville.

Dollywood in Pigeon Forge.

There is an incline chair lift in Gatlinburg to ride to top of mountain with overlook and viewscopes.

Lots of good eating, shopping (park and walk around downtown Gatlinburg).

When you leave, go out through Townsend and up through Maryville.

More scenic route and drive.

That should take up 2 days and then some.

Won't be your last trip I guarantee ya.

Take care and best wishes,
Robert
