Our park has a MAJOR water leak. I was talking to the owner today and it is costing over $1000 per month in lost water. We have meters at both of the mains coming into the park and meters at every home.
The park is sitting on a gravel base so the water is going DOWN, not to the surface. There is about 6 miles of water lines through out the park so digging is out of the question.
I thought about contacting a well witcher. Any ideas?? Greg

No, I don't know anything about it. But, don't plumbers or house inspectors have something they slide along to see if there is a more saturated area within walls or floors? Kinda like a stud finder? If you live near a University maybe a call to the geology dept. Don't know if that's the dept. I'm thinking of. If you don't get any working ideas here.
That's sure alot of water to lose.

Gregg, The water company in your area should be able to find the leak. I have heard in my area they have equipment that actually listens for the water coming out of the pipe. I have seen guy's use an electric meter type listening device which works something like a stethoscope. Hope this helps.

Both Juli and Ron are correct!

Either the water company or a another specialist should have the equipment to find the leak without digging.

Some friends of ours had a decent spike in their water bill a few months back. The water company came out and found exactly where the leak was with some sort of detector type thing. I didn't see it, so I have no idea what it was.

Also, if every home is metered couldn't you use that to sort of track down the area of the park that may have the problem? I'm not sure about that, but I do know that when we had our leak, they easily narrowed it down to our home because of the meter. Ours was using more water, obviously LOL! But, they had to use the meter to find out which home was responsible for the leak, because all three homes on our little street run together.

I'm in no way an expert in this area, just throwing out ideas!

Thanks for the ideas, I am thinking about buying a ultrasonic unit as the owner made me a "deal" if I can find it. Greg
