We were there for a week and had a lot of fun. The main event was the Cher concert at Caesar's Palace. Wow, is she awesome. Her voice is just as good as ever and the show was very entertaining. She looks really good for 62. LOL

We also rented a ski boat and cruised around on Lake Mead. Had to go in after 2 hours though - both of us looked like lobsters.

Another interesting place was Red Rock Canyon. And of course we saw Hoover Dam. Also spent a lot of time (and money) at the slot machines. Oh well, what can I say?

We want to go to Vegas just to see Cher. Can I ask what tickets cost? We had hoped to see her on her supposively 'farewell' tour. But the one chance we had to see her was the same week that Bon Jovi was playing, and Bon Jovi won out.

Mark, go to http://www.caesarspalace.com and look for tickets there. I believe the lowest is around $95 and the highest is $250. There's an additional small charge for buying online. We got the highest cost tickets (bought them 6 months before the show) and had pretty good seats. They were on the far right side, not the center of the stage. But Cher works the whole stage so you get to see her easily from anywhere in the front orchestra seating. She is definitely worth seeing.

If we had it to do over, we wouldn't stay so long. 8 days/7 nights is too long. My hubby doesn't gamble and really didn't like all the crowds. And remember to take a lot of spending money. EVERYTHING costs more. We rented a car and actually went away from the Strip to eat at "regular" restaurants. I could go on and on about Vegas, but I'll stop now. LOL

8 days is a long time in Las Vegas if you don't like gambling. Even if you like gambling, 8 days would require a ton of money for most people.

We go there quite often to see family. We still like getting hotel rooms so we can have freedom to move around and do what we want. I like staying at the Silverton Casino. That is where the Bass Pro Shops is. Has all the huge displays that you get in sport shops like that, except the fish tank at the bar has mermaid shows! {{dancing eyebrows}} Probably the best deal and service for hotels we have found is the Orleans. Excellent rooms and service a fraction of the cost of Strip hotels. When we want to run the strip, we drive to any casino we want to start at and use their valet service. Cool parking for 4 bucks or whatever you want to give them. We are in the Orleans discount system, so they send us deals all the time. The last one was $34.95 a night! I think their regular rate is only $65 or so. If anyone is interested, I can hook them up with our discount code.

For a great off-strip restaurant, you gotta try Rosemary's at 8125 W Sahara Ave, west of Buffalo on W. Sahara. It does not look like much from the outside, but is nice on the inside and the food and service is 4 star. Check out the menu. Rosemary's menu - PDF format This is fine dining, so I wouldn't wear sandals and a hawaii shirt. I am sure they would still let you in and treat you nice though.

Lake Mead is still fun, but the water has been drained away for the most part. It is still big though. Bass fishing is OK and you can have a lot of fun with the striped bass. During the fall months, I would catch 30-60 a day on a regular basis. They are mostly smaller 2-6 pounders in the lake, except you can see the 40 pounders at the marina where tourist feed them popcorn. Go out past Mead to the Colorado River if you want to catch big stripers.

Ceasars would be the stop if you had one stop and one day. The Venetian is good, especially the mall area. I love seeing $500 hand bags. :| The gondolas with singing gondoliers is cool. Downtown there is the overhead light show which is a must see for a first time visitor. There is every kind of entertainment a person could want to see. That is where I saw Eric Clapton last.

We haven't been to Vegas in over 10 years. 10 years ago we told ourselves we'd go about every year. Yea right!

When we did go, I think it was for 4 days 3 nights. As a first-time Vegas visitor, there was too much to see to waste any time gambling.

We really want to go back, and seeing Cher will draw us there. When we go to a good concert, we tend to spend the money for the better tickets. Really, a person spends a lot of money and time to get to the show, so might as well spend a little more and get a good seat.
