Hey Harry,

Yup, some bad wrecks, and was really glad that the drivers were safe when all the metal was set in it's new position. It truly is a testament to the safety of those cars.

Gordon is not my fave but certainly was glad the man came out of that without any problems. Man the front of that car just disintegrated the way it impacted that entrance/exit area.

Hopefully Tony hasn't injured something that has not shown it self yet. He complained that his lower back is hurting and tingles in the legs...remember last year 2 wrecks back to back like that and he was injured. The same could hold true for Jeff...his impact was horrible.

Sure hope NASCAR considers putting the safer barriers in those areas as well.

Yeah Junior came thru the ranks today, Johnson didn't do well at all. Kyle is running like a loose cannon,. Yeah the boy can drive, I'll give him that but some of his moves are a little over the top.

Carl Edwards is another driver I like, was glad to see that NASCAR did not penalize the team for that second tire get away. Bet from now on all camera people will have to stay in a certain out of the way area, that would of cost Carl the win.

All in all a good race and some great driving.

I hope Tony sees a spine specialist and gets an MRI this morning.

PS: 2008 and still having tire blowouts.

Mornin Harry,

Well was just reading NASCAR.com and Tony plans on testing today and tomorrow

Also Carl Edwards and crew could/will be facing fines and penalties. Post race inspection found his oil tank cover was not on. Hate it for him and crew, but rules are rules!

Will have to wait till tomorrow for NASCAR determinations.

Not happy that a Ford won again! The Hendrick boys have to get it together soon. Gordon's wreck was terrifying! Hope Tony is OK. Those tires just don't seem to be holding up as they should. I think they are not very well suited to the new car. The cars all seem to have handling issues which, to me, is kind of an oxymoron to building a safer car. They would be safer if they handled better and didn't crash as much, instead of just being able to handle the crashes better. Why can't they engineer them for both? Not a big fan of the green white checker endings. Is every race going to end this way?

Hi Jim!

Awww, for me it's not really a matter of who wins, in fact I am really enjoying seeing different teams up there than the usual top 5! Now don't get me wrong, would love to have Tony take the checkers!

Yeah I am surprised at the Hendrick's team as well. If I am not mistaken I thought they were the exclusive test team to the COT cars last year. Really thought they would have alot going on right now. Jeff has been a contender, and Jimmy has as well except this last race. Not sure whats going on with Jimmy.

Goodyear tires, every year they go thru this, changing the compound of the tires to the various tracks. I am wondering if it isn't more the set up of the cars, seemed to be mainly the right front that kept blowing out.

Wrecks, there's always gonna be wrecks, heck you got 43 cars out there and everyone is giving it all they got, some with great driving abilities others that I would not want to race down the highway. There are gonna be wrecks!

Handling problems seem to come the worst when there is a major change in track temps. Or the wind, and yesterday they had some pretty stiff winds in the 3rd corner.

Then you got those that miss a gear, hold back or whatever on restarts and that gives the bottleneck effect, which is what happened when Gordon crashed. Junior I believe spun his tires, everyone else had to check up, Gordon and hmmm forget the other one, one went high, Gordon went low around Jr. Came back around him and then Jeff started wandering up the track...wreck!
Thank goodness they were not a full speed when Jeff crashed!

Tony's DNF certainly didn't help in his points standings, but it's so early in the year that it doesn't cause concerns at the moment. I have watched Tony race for 10 years, he gets good in Late June and into July!

Nope I am not a big fan of the green white checker, but without it the cars were racing back to the line trying to maintain positions. This made it dangerous when the caution flag was thrown. What I am less fond of is them counting caution laps and restart laps as raced laps!

Who will be the winner next week???

I don't know who will win next week, but I would never bet against that Kyle Busch. Man, that youngin' can really drive a car!
