If you are already in the area, I would recommend driving through some and talk to a few residents.

JD may have some incite or be able to point you in a direction, he's in Fresno but may have a connection.

im in nj...bought mobile and gutted, we now have solid hardwood floors for my son's walker and sheetrock.....wish i could move this home but.....it would prob fall apart:( and i THINK moving in a new park is a pita.

soooo much work, the subfloor was particle board and my dh ripped it out and laid plywood before the hardwood...

this NJ weather is killing me, my son has cerebral palsy and uses a walker and does not need winter!!!!

we need to go visit the area...can we get free plane tickets?:)

thanks

Heck, San Diego might as well be Florida to me. Been there many times but only a couple of times since I have been in Fresno, 26 years. But you don't need to check it out in person. View some live cams and then just go. Absolutely beautiful, comfortable and socially advanced. The cost of "visit" plane tickets, hotels and rental car would pay for a rental place long enough to find a home. Overall, it is an expensive local. Still there is affordable housing to be found. I know of a professional govt handout person with and ocean view from their condo.

You picked the right city, San Diego. The best year 'round weather. If you can afford it, SD is the most desirable city.

Fresno is great weather wise for about 8 months out of the year. We have a couple months of too hot in the summer and a couple of months of colder than I like in thew winter. I am a wuz, though. We may have one week of near freezing temps at night. Rare to be that cold during the day. I am not crazy about 40s and rain either. Fresno is very affordable as California goes. Much cheaper than SD. We have all the malls and restaurant stuff with some casinos thrown in for whoopies. The cool thing is, during rush hour, we might slow down to speed limit. We can get from the far north to far south or the far east to the far west of town in less than 30 min. I like the smaller city thing compared to any of the more popular cities in CA. We are trapped in the valley with mountains blocking in a bunch of our and San Francisco's smog. Air is bad in Fresno. But we are 30 minutes from mountain lakes, 30 min to an hour from Sequoias, The Sierras and Yosemite. We are 2 hours from Monterey and other coast destinations, 3 1/2 hours from San Fran, 4 hours from LA. So that is a big plus for Fresno
