Getting ready to tape and texture walls and was told by a Home Depot employee that paper tape is less likely to crack, Any truth to that?????

I've used the Mesh Tape in all my dry Walling work (amateur) .
One Pro I read says that, mesh cracks easier then paper, so all he uses is Paper. He does thousands of feet a year. Mesh is ok for patch repair he says. It is also cheaper i think for the pros.
1987 Craftsman Double Wide 42x28,w/attached 28x12 foot enclosed porch/ re-shingled 2 yrs ago. Original exterior vinyl w/no sheathing.

Yes paper is better, but mesh tape is easier to use. Even pros use mesh on butt joints.
