has anyone here ever built a mobile home from scratch? I watched a neighbour double the size of his trailer this year... they brought in some big red steel beams and they built on top of that.

What i had in mind was to build the "trailer" totaly out of SIPs panels..
I have access to a 5000sqft workshop about 10 minutes from the trailerpark id want the trailer to rest at.

thanks

Hi

Never built one from scratch but have done some pretty extensive rebuilds.

I was looking at SIPs construction just the other day for a detached garage I'd like to build. If I go ahead it will be on a slab. In your case you want to transport it to the park.

Have you considered using the frame of an old mobile? Down here there are free old mobiles...if you know where to look.

Aside from the roof leak, soft floors, rats, mice and bursted plumbing ........ how do you like it?

thats also an idea i had... was using an old frame and going sips all over it. i have no experience with this at all.. I have built a house, and renovated many but i have no idea where to start on this one to do everything to "code"

i guess ordering the admins book will be a start.. and reading that HUD pdf

any other suggestions?

thanks
