I wasn't sure where to post this so I guess it'll get moved to wherever...
Ok - lets say that I have a 1" PVC water line and it's buried under 2-3 feet of road base material. If I have someone use a commercial roller/compactor to go over it, is there any danger of crushing my water line?
Thanks

It may depend on how the pipe was buried. If it was buried in sand you should be OK, but if it was just backfilled with dirt & rocks there could be a problem. The other variable is the width of the trench, if it was cut with a trencher (4"-6" wide) I doubt there would be a problem, a 24" wide trench with a backhoe could pose a problem.
I would let the contractor know the situation and have them make the call. Greg

Well, originally it was covered in about 2' of sand. Over that we dropped in some road base mixed with asphalt chunks and then topped it off with more road base. I would guess that it has a god 1'-2' of sand over it.
It would be nice to roll out this area so it gets packed nice and flat.
