tile ???

first time in a mbh but would like to know is it true you should only use 3/8 drywall on ceilings

Mobile homes are very weight sensitive, ite less weight you can add, the better they like it.
If you look at a cross section of your home you will see why we say that. the frame that supports the weight of the home is about 3' inside the outer walls so weight is transfered through the floor joists to the frame. some homes that have had roofs added also have bowed floors from the extra weight pushing down. The subject line to your post says "tile".... if you are thinking of tile, I would REALLY second guess that.
Tile just cracks as your MH moves, and it's very heavy.

You might want to think about vinyl or a barkerboard/barkertile product.
