Just completed a sliding door replacement with a Pella 72 x 80 vinyl from Home Depot installed in an end wall. This required raising the rough opening 3 inches. I pulled the inside sheetrock to find a 6 inch header stapled between a king stud on each side and no jack studs, Is this load bearing? So I replaced the header with a 4 x 8 on jack studs with two kings on each side just to be safe and beef up the opening against movement. We want to replace another slider in the side wall and my stud finder shows something similar as in a 4 x 6 header and single kings. I'm not sure what to expect when I open the side wall but have to believe it is load bearing maybe supporting roof trusses. Anyone with experience pleas comment.
Thanks

It should be load bearing, but it sounds like you have beefed it enough to prevent problems. You could consult a structural engineer if you have concerns.
