There is a infestation of winged ants coming from the bathroom skylight of our home. Some of them even come from the ceiling fan. Upon closer inspection the wood around the skylight is damaged.

What is the best way to approach solving this issue?
Pest control first, then fixing all the wood.
Or do you just fix the wood parts and the pest would be gone along with it?
Is pest control necessary or is there a diy way of killing off these ants?

If anyone else have dealt with similar I would appreciate your advice, thank you.

I would look close around the skylite, Ants are usually attracted to moisture so look for leaks.
