I have a mobile home manufactured in 1966. It has a back door that is the old metal style with the lip that extends out past the width of the door frame. This door is going to need a new lockset soon as it's not working well. The only problem is the backset is 3.75" from the edge of the door to the center of the door knob. I've searched the internet for a lockset with that length backset and have came up with virtually nothing. Has anyone else had this problem, and have you found a suitable replacement lockset that is this size? Any help would be greatly appreciated!

Have you taken the lock mechanism out of the door and cleaned it/lubricated it??
If its a 1966 original, Im sure theres plenty of dirt/paint/old grease in there which may bind things up. Maybe it will help the lock work a little better, plus its free(except for some time)

That is a long setback. Have you checked with a locksmith? As Bob said, I would try a good cleaning & lubricating first.
