Wet Sheathing

Hello

Due to new window leaking, there was water behind wall and sheathing got wet/damaged.
Army of carpenter? ants were living in there. All is clean and dry now.

My son well replace insulation, and put up new wallboard.
Is the yellow, with brown paper vapor barrier, okay? We removed pink, no vapor barrier.

The sheathing against vertical aluminum siding, was wet, is dry now.
It is warped, and has mold or mildew on bottom.
The two wall spaces that got wet, are below the window, 2'x16'.....each.

Is it necessary to replace the sheathing? It was cut in two pieces horizontally, to fit under the window. It doesn't fit tightly in the spaces, and would be easy to remove, and probably replace.

Is it necessary to replace the sheathing, before putting in insulation batting?
I don't know anything about vapor barriers, and can something else be used instead of sheathing?
I imagine that rigid foam, would cause condensation????

I would replace anything with mold. Make sure everything is dry and replace the insulation.

Thank you, Greg. Must I replace it with the same stuff? Where would I get it?
I live in the boonies....have Walmart and Lowes.

Can I use rigid foam? Already have that.

It looks to me like what you have for sheathing is a rigid foam with foil laminated to each side. It gives you insulation value and acts as a vapor barrier. From your description, I wonder if whomever replaced the windows put it there? If it was original to the home, it seems it would not be pieced in to fit under the window.
Lowes should have what you need.
