bathtub replacement.....

Ok...this is probably easy for the rest of you, but I have to ask.

We are replacing our tub, just a standard size (not the garden tub), and if it's not too difficult, I would like to try it ourselves. A swap out of tubs, shouldn't be that hard. Right? I read the article here, and it was very informative, with one hitch. Just how do I get to the pipes? The article says to shut off the water, remove the pipes that are under the tub, but there is no way to figure out how to reach them.

I've got the water heater problem solved, so we can move it from the closet and get to the faucet from behind the wall, but for the life of me, I can't figure out how to get underneath this tub! You don't come up from under the house, cutting the belly liner and flooring, do you?
