Hi. I have a SW mobile in Phoenix that's about 960 sq ft. My husband and I are down here just for the winter (Nov-Apr) and it seems the AC has died on us. Not surprising as I'm guessing it over 20 yrs. Anyway we had a couple of guys come out and tell us we need a 3 ton unit. Reading some of the post here, I'm wondering if we do need one that big. I know it gets hot here in the summer, but we aren't here so the unit wouldn't be running. How do I figure out what size we would need? Thanks all.

Go to www.hvac-talk.com and click on HVAC Calc at top. That is a homeowner version of manual J Load Calculation used by us contractors to find out size unit needed.

Probably 2.5 ton, but could possibly need a 3, just depends.

Thanks,
Robert
