I did a Yahoo search for diverters and could only find industrial ones.

Since this forum specialises in HVAC, could you point me to some sources for duct diverter valves? Company names or manufacturers?

The function of the diverter valve is to reduce or shut off air flow in an HVAC duct.

Thank you.

Thanks,
Robert

I am looking for a source, a manufacturer of home or M.H. HVAC ducting and/or accessories. I want to study diverter design and how it is made before I buy.

It could be used for either site built home or a M.H..

I bought some diverters years ago from an HVAC installer. I used them to balance flow in a site built house. They were in-line round sheet metal pipes with a sheet metal butterfly valve. approx. 8 - 10" in diameter (don't remember the exact size).

Quite frankly, they were made like junk and the control handles came loose only after a few flow tweaks.

Hi,

The majority of our parts are for MH's, however none of our parts are what you're looking for.

To my knowledge, finding what you want for studying before buying would be doubtful.

Best bet would be to google search for manufacturers and contact them directly.

Thanks,
Robert

Hi,

You're very welcome, happy to help. Google residential duct dampers or residential balancing dampers.

Here's one for example:

BTW, where are you located in Upcountry, SC ? That's where I'm from.

Thanks,
Robert

South Greenville county, out in what's left of the 'country'.

If the economy turns around (it never will return to pre-1913 prosperity), this area will become a little Atlanta. Not good.

I will at that point, move to a more rural county.

Hi David,

I'm from Pickens and Oconee Counties, come on over, LOL. Had dual careers at one time, HVAC and Law Enforcement.

Was retired from LE on disability from an injury in Oconee County in 1997 and moved to Tennessee where my wife's family lived in '99.

Was just down there for Thanksgiving, all my family is there.

Go Tigers!! :D

Take care and best wishes,
Robert

Another route you can goo is to reasearch the different grill manufacturers. They will usually offer grills with "apposed blade dampers" built onto them. These to not effect the diverter direction of airflow. But they do control the volume of air.

We use the flat, round dampers like you described in the earlier post all all time. They are kinda cheap, but they do work. We get them from a local duct manufacturer here in Dallas. So that could be yet another source, if you have a sheet metal shop close to you that builds ductwork.
