Hi there - We have just bought an old fixer upper in Oklahoma with a split Intertherm system - furance is MGH 065A - the condensor outside says intertherm but the model was a paper label and is no longer readable - and are in the process of doing a complete remodel. I have received Mark's book read it (great help) however everything I have read re: furnace says to clean blower and vacumn all around the furnace - which I have done - I don't think it ever was cleaned and also clean the A-Coil. All the pictures show either above or below - but mine has a vent pipe to the roof on top and nothing on the bottom - at least I think. If the blower was so filthy I am sure the A-Coil must be also - It is finally getting warm here - the rain has stopped and I want to run the A/C - but want to make sure everything is clean - everything works - but after I got my elec bill this month I think I need to clean some more -and then if I have to call a professional I will. So my question is "Where the heck is this "A-Coil"

Thank You

Hi,

Look at these links to some of our articles, they will help in cleaning the blower, a-coil and outdoor condenser unit.

These pics are of a Coleman Gas Furnace, however the Intertherm will be similar and cleaned same basic way.

The A-Coil should be at bottom of furnace cabinet and will have a metal covering in front of it to be removed.

Look for the 2 copper refrigerant lines, one big with pipe insulation and the other a smaller line. They run from outdoor condenser unit, under the home , up through floor and attach to the a-coil.

Locate where they enter furnace and that is the a-coil behind the cover.

Take care and best wishes,
Robert
