Our furnace/air conditioner started this during winter, in the early winter we had to manually push the fan to start blowing air. It worked fine for the remaining winter. Now that it's summer and we've switched to air conditioner it is doing the same thing. It turns on and tries to start but the fan really struggles to get going, if we tap it manually with a stick it starts to turn and will usually be fine for a day or two. Can you please tell me if this is the capacitor? or if not guide me as to what it could be? My husband took out the blower wheel and greased/oiled it and it turns fine.

Hi,
It could be one of two things. The capacitor or the blower motor. The capacitor is the cheaper of the two items to fix first. Here is a link for a new cap

If that does not solve the problem then here is a link for a new motor

You will see that there is 2 links for the motor. One motor is a 1/4 hp 2 speed blower motor. The other motor is a 1/3hp 4-speed motor. You need to see what kind of motor you have on your furnace. Hope this helps
