Robert,

I got my furnace out today. I wanted to move my furnace a few feet. What is the flexible duct hanging in the pics below? Is it necessary? it was mounted on top in the back corner where the air filter would bottom out. Thanks in advance.

Hi,

That is the flex duct from the VentilAire system . It connects to roof jack on roof and the blower pulls in fresh air to mix with the return air.

In my professional opinion, it does more bad than good. In our two homes, I have it disconnected and plugged.

IF you also have the VentilAire roof jack and fan motor to remove heat from attic cavity, that IS needed.

Whether or not to reconnect is up to you.

Thanks,
Robert
