Does anyone have any tips on disconnecting a furnace (besides turning off the power) to remove particle board and replace with plywood flooring? I have the furnace manual, so that will assist in reinstall.

Hi,

What is furnace model number ? Do you have a/c A-Coil also ?

Thanks,
Robert

Robert,

Here's the information you requested:
Coleman Central Electric Furnace
Code & Serial #: 088770860
Model #: 3400A816
Output: 54,000 BTU
Volts/Hz/Phase : 240v/60Hz/1

I read the manual last night and it seems fairly straight forward.
1. Turn off breaker
2. Pull out the disconnect
3. Disconnect wires and cap them
4. Remove screws that hold furnace to furnace sub-base
5. Remove furnace sub-base
6. Remove furnace
7. Cut out plywood opening per manual
8. Redo duct work
9. Reverse (Step 5 down through step 1)

Hi,

There may also be L brackets to secure furnace to wall. IF you have a/c, you'll need an hvac tech to handle the a-coil, drain line and refrigerant lines.

Thanks,
Robert

Thanks Robert! No AC, though a self-contained new unit will be added next month or in April.
