We have a Nordyne model C3QA 036U B
It will stop blowing cold, the inside coils will not be cold....it will continuously blow....it has done this 3 days sometime in the middle of the day. Sometime during the night, it starts blowing cold again, and the coils are cold. They do not freezed up. We replaced the thermostat, it is still doing it. The fan is blowing, but when it isn't cooling, it doesn't do anything outside.

Hi,

Most likely the Compressor in the outside Condenser Unit is kicking out on internal overload.

This could be due to a bad/weak compressor, bad condenser fan motor, dirty condenser coil.

Go to this link and read this article on cleaning Condenser Unit:

http://www.mobilehomerepair.com/article ... ioner.html

Try that and see if it helps.

If not, will need a Tech to locate problem.

It could be a faulty Contactor releasing also, but most likely above cause.

Take care and best wishes,
Robert

Hi,

To add to above, you said, when it isn't cooling, it doesn't do anything outside.

Are you saying when it does this and stops cooling, the outside condenser unit doesn't work at all ?

The compressor AND the condenser fan BOTH do not work ?

Thanks,
Robert

nothing is kicking on at all. It's sitting there silent. The only thing on is the fan motor inside.

My husband said to tell you he just replaced the contactor and the low voltage isn't getting to it...I hope that makes sense to you.

Hi,

What is the outside Condenser Unit model number and what type t-stat did you replace with ?

How many wires connect at t-stat ?

Thanks,
Robert

Hi,

Also, if you have a multi-meter, when it does this, go to transformer in a/c control box inside furnace and test secondary 24V side for 24-28vac.

Thanks,
Robert
