Have a 1998 Nordyne MMHA-070ABHR-5 furnace. t
The lower part of roof jack is starting to be encased in ice. The upper part is free. owners manual only talks about removing excessive ice on upper part. Home does have the VentilAire system with no ice.

Should I be concerned? Currently involved with the so called Artic Vortex.

The ice on the lower half of the roof jack usually isn't a problem on the direct ignition model furnaces. However on pilot models it creates a pressure differential between the intake (lower) and exhaust (upper) sections of the roof jack assembly which can lead to pilot outage.

If you have a pilot model unit and are experiencing excessive pilot outage knock the ice off the jack.
