when they're read or when you push mark all topics read button. That's an unusual error :?

You got an error message? I use the 'mark all posts read' button often. It seems to work as intended to me.

No error message, it just won't work whether the topics are actually read or whether I click on the link to mark them read.

At the moment I can't get that situation to duplicate for me. I suppose logging out and back in don't help.
