Hello, I have a Kerosene fired furnace, that needed the combustion air adjusted. The previous owners or tech had it shut as far as it would go, giving it a smoke test of 5. I adjusted it to Zero Smoke and wanted to know if I could give it even a little more air to keep combustion chamber cleaner, not wanting to waste heat out the flue. Does anyone know what the flue temperature should be on these? I was only seeing around 285 F out of the pipe with a InfraRed Thermometer.

Topic of Cleaning combustion chamber:

As the result of years of misadjustment I had a heck of a time cleaning the soot out of the chamber. I used all kind of sizes of heavy copper wire with foam attached to scrape out the soot. Is there a easier way to do this?

Thanks for your time

Aaron
