What do I replace the switch, motor or both? How do I test each for failure or function?

With a meter you may be able to tell if the switch is open or closed. But if the board is indicating a stuck switch, then it's either the switch or the motor. Both are sold as a combo so when you replace one you replace the other. Here is a link to the Aberdeen home repair store where you can buy them.
