Wiring

Our mobile home furnace is a 7956-856 it has heat/ac the thermostat is wired completely wrong and there is a wiring nightmare in front on the control box and inside everything seems to be cut and rewired to something else. The thermostat controls nothing the furnace fires but blows cold air out of the vents when “heat” is on. I can send pictures of the wiring. How many wire system do we have to be able to get a correct thermostat is my biggest question and how do we fix the wiring mess?
