Great forum! I am posting on behalf of my parent's 7 year old DGAA unit. Everything has been great up until the first cold spell 2 weeks ago. The initial issue:

Unit would come on at the desired thermostat setting, pilot clicked, lit a nice blue flame..then when the blower came on the flame would go out. Repeated...SO they called out an HVAC guy and he cleaned the flame sensor..same thing. He then said there was too much gas pressure and adjusted the flow using a hex wrench on the inlet. The unit now came on and stayed on but the flame is a weak yellow and not very much heat at all comes out. Any ideas? Thanks!

What was the original blink code on the controller board, if you know.

There aren't any flashing codes now. I didn't recall seeing it flash before they came.

bump :)- update from the parents below:

well...I have tried it every morning...it does the same flame on flame off..if I let it continue that ...after the third or fourth time it stays on and is just as warm as before...don’t know if it would continue to work on a all day basis...the odd thing is I get 5 flashes sometimes.....most of the time there are no flashes when it is doing this.

I am reading it could be anything from low gas pressure, inducer motor, to flame sensor?

I found a manual online for this furnace as I am not familiar with it. It states that 5 Flashes would indicate a gas flow with no call for heat. If that's the case I would say your gas valve could be no good. There is a way to check it with a meter. I highly doubt the gas pressure was a problem so that should be adjusted back to where it was. Strange that you only get that code sometimes though. Just a few other things would be to make sure the flue/vent is clear of debris. Usually you can clean the flame sensor and have no problems but sometimes they just need to be replaced.

Here's the link to the manual if it is of any help to you:

Found another manual http://www.winfieldsupply.com/images/HV ... ctions.pdf this is a tuffy, normally the blink code is on the left re-looked it's the item number not the trouble code... Can you post a full model #?

I spent a lot of time comparing the DGAA77 service manual to mine. Where mine says code, yours says item. Based on the way I was originally thinking the intermittent code 5 should refer to the control board #031-01932-000. Fleabay has a good used one listed for $40 http://www.ebay.com/itm/Source-1-Contro ... 2a4658154d I'd being giving that a shot. Makes sense if the control board is iffy and half @@@ working that's why the code is intermittent. I think jpingram5 was looking at 5 and reading the gas valve which is right under it. But like he said I'd put the pressure back to where it was.
