Re: Laminate flooring, orientation, transitions and entrance
I survived! Finished laying laminates (well, OK, I have a couple of pieces to put down in a doorway to a back bedroom, and I need to do the transitions, and one day I'll do moldings, but basically I'm done with the flooring). Had lots of doubts whether I could get the floor level/straight enough, es...

Re: Drain for hot water heater pan
Yeah, that's what I though, but just wanted to make sure. My original layman's concern was over the T&P- the exhaust vent would be a fairly obvious to me (as a layman) no-no to combine

Re: Laminate flooring, orientation, transitions and entrance
Thanks Greg! Many thanks to you and all the others here for helping keep my motivation up. I'll be doing a pour in the dining room this morning (hoping I have enough leveler!) and hope that this will be the last of it! Dining room has required a lot more precision due to the fact that it will be tyi...

Re: Drain for hot water heater pan
I feel a bit stupid, what's an "TPR vent?" Is this the pressure relief overflow? (uncertain of nomenclature)

Re: CPVC to PEX for intermediate plumbing
Folks at Lowe's were pretty perplexed as well. But that's what's printed on the pipe, 5/8" OD (and it actually measures out as such)! It looks like it's going to be more of a hassle to try and stub this for PEX than it's worth and that I'm better off saving my energy and money until I'm ready t...

Wood stove installation - placement questions
I have pressures and incentives to install a wood stove in my MH: have lots of available fuel- standing timber. This is one project that won't be DIY (well, I could do it, but I don't want to leave any OUT for my insurance company ). I've got a pretty open floor plan (see picture). Trouble is is tha...

Re: CPVC to PEX for intermediate plumbing
I'm thinking that I'll just amputate at the hose. If I am unable to find anything, such as the barbed hose fitting, then I'm pretty sure that I can splice the hose back together. I need only turn the shutoff to the fixture off. In order to cut the CPVC I'd have to have the water to the entire house ...

Re: CPVC to PEX for intermediate plumbing
How bizarre is that? You'd think that 5/8" would be bigger... I took a closer look and saw that the pipe is stamped with "5/8 OD 1/2 ID." A quick caliper reading shows OD of about .630". Sigh, all I want to do is toss on some faucets, a job that should take only about 10 minutes....

Re: CPVC to PEX for intermediate plumbing
Hi Greg, Yeah, was looking to do that but Lowe's didn't have anything that would work on 5/8" OD! I was all set to go this route (that's when I got desperate and went with the shark bite valves). Seems that nothing wants to play nicely (still working on flooring, and it's giving me fits trying ...

CPVC to PEX for intermediate plumbing
I have some new faucets that I'd like to install in my bathrooms. They come with non-detachable 3/8" braided hose. The existing plumbing is CPVC to (weird push-pull) plastic shutoff valves with (white) crimped-on flex tubing to the fixtures (all are the same). Although I'd love to PEX the entir...

The pressure! I still haven't gotten to the point that I can work on the t-strips! Have picked up some router bits thoughGreg wrote:You could make some "custom" door stops out of some Oak also.

Re: WHAT COLOR???
Crud! There goes another item to add to my project list! I tend to think that darker is usually better, especially if you get a lot of dirt/rain splatter.

Re: Drain for hot water heater pan
I don't have a mental picture of what the bottom of one of these units might look like (anyone point me toward a picture?), but it's sounding like it's not worth bothering to install a pan. So... If I just wait until the thing dies a horrible death do I count on insurance covering the mess? Or, with...
