Re: Total Remodel

You did just a SUPER job on this! It's a shame you won't be able to enjoy living in it FINISHED for awhile, but WOW! Nicely done!

Re: Outside spigot

My best answer is stop by your local hardware store or the plumbing department at the nearby big box store and inquire there. Some repairs require just a new washer while some require a whole new spigot.

Re: grab bars

Suction ones will work, but make sure the suction cups don't bisect a "seam". They won't hold fast unless they're stuck to a completely smooth surface. That said, bolt on is best. You can't be sure with suction ones how strong the glue is that's holding that plastic to the wall. If you bol...

Re: Aluminum siding repair

Take a photo from outside of the way it looks now, and take the photo to one of the big box stores. Ask them to show you what it would look like with 1 big window, or stacked windows, or a bay window, or whatever else you can think of. They'll computer generate some impressive possibilities for you,...

Re: Inspect Attic

Odds are the vent tubing from the bathroom fan up to the roof is not insulated. That leads to condensation and then it drips back into the bathroom. About your only option is to replace that tubing with insulated stuff, but that involved opening up the ceiling or the roof.
Good luck!

Re: Members what do you do to your waterlines in winter

Great minds think alike, Ponch! This morning I got a wireless thermometer and put it in my crawlspace. It's hovering near zero outside tonight and says it's 31 in the crawl. I have a big crawl - our singlewide is set 48 inches off the ground (so I can crawl around as needed) so if it stays this warm...

I like the idea of trickling the water into the tub, then dumping it all at once.

Re: yellowing tubs and sinks help..

I found this on ehow.com....haven't tried it, but I may. I have the same problem -

"To remove discoloration from a yellowed bathtub, rub the tub with a solution of salt and turpentine. Rinse well. Caution: Wear rubber gloves when you work with this solution."

Re: Members what do you do to your waterlines in winter

It sounds like you've done a lot more than most. Even though I live in central Indiana, I grew up in Minnesota, and I learned that anytime the forecast is single digits or lower it's wise to leave a faucet trickling. Yes, that costs money, but not nearly as much as having to crawl under a single-wid...

Re: Incoming Water Temps

I don't moniter the water temp under the trailer. As long as the belly wrap is intact and the skirting is sound (I have 2" insulated stuff) I don't even think about it. I plug in the heat tape December 1st and unplug it again at the end of February - it doesn't use much juice and my water run i...
