Re: water pressure?? problems

Sounds like a check valve isn't working. The check valve(back flow valve) is a one way valve that only lets water flow in one direction. so it allows flow from the pump but then when the pump is shut off it prevents all the water in the lines from draining back down into the well. It sounds like you...

Re: Opinions on how to insulate 2x2 vaulted ceilings

What part of the country are you located in? What is your roof material? And what exactly do you mean when you are saying 2x2? Like Greg said foam might be a good option. But you need someone to come in and do it for you. Might not be too bad if everything is ready for them. Foam also acts as a vapo...

Re: Redoing underbelly on 1973 DW

Capture.PNG I have included the HUD standards for belly skin. All of the materials listed above would stop the migration of both moisture/air. The only item visqueen would not meet is the puncture proof test i.e 40lb. You don't want the migration of moisture/odors/radon on any home. Historically MF...

Re: Subfloor repair for mobile home addition

I have mixed feelings on using construction adhesive between two layers like this. The problem is if you use adhesive you really want an even layer over the whole floor. Which is next to impossible to do with construction adhesive. So you end up with high spots where the adhesive is and air gaps whe...

Re: Redoing underbelly on 1973 DW

Belly material needs to be able to breath. Visqueen does not allow this. That is why you should use the recommended belly mend material or some use tyvek. Both are breathable.

Re: Kitchen sink/dishwasher drainage problem

To check the air gap just unscrew it, if it drains good then it's the air gap. If water comes doesn't drain and comes out the top of the air gap pipe then the air gap is good and you have a blockage somewhere.

Re: COLEMAN PRESIDENTIAL 2 WIRING ISSUE

I know this is a little late but loose or bad connections can cause resistance and heat which will melt the plastic. For the wires you can usually cut them back to good copper and insulation if you have enough slack. From what I get you are saying the control board also melted? If so you will have t...

Re: Desperate for Help - How to Repair?

From what you describe I would say you are beyond trouble shooting and time for a full replumb. Like already mentioned it's not that hard to do and not that expensive. PEX is wonderful stuff to work with. If it were me and money was tight I would start from the beginning. Start where the main line c...

Re: The cursed electrical outlets!

The outlets they use are complete garbage, not really an opinion but after replacing a few hundred I would say more of a fact. They don't hold the wires good and I've seen many that have black "burn" spots from arcing which is one arc away from a house fire. I don't know how they get away ...

I just checked and looks like Greg unlocked the "cheapest house in town" thread. You have to go back to July 29, 2013 to find it. Looking forward to seeing the updates!

Re: Skirting Vents?

I'm betting you will find something obvious that will be the reason for your shower freezing. Either a compromise in the belly material or pipe hanging down on belly material or maybe even insulation that has gotten wet in the past and isn't working as it should. Sometimes if the plumbing is at the ...

Re: Skirting Vents?

If you only had one frozen pipe you should take a look at that pipe and try to figure out why that particular one froze. Usually there is a pretty simple reason. For example a couple years back I had a kitchen sink pipe that kept freezing. Went under to look and when I replaced the kitchen sink my P...

Re: Installing New Waterlines

Greg, just materials. It would depend on a lot of things. Crimpers have come way down in price. When I bought my first one some 10 years ago they were really expensive but now you can buy them fairly cheap. And in my opinion every MH owner should have one and a variety of fittings and crimp rings. ...

Re: Plumbing Help needed for elbow at water heater

I don't think I read but did you have hot water at your kitchen sink before you repaired the hot water elbow leak? Or is this a new problem just since you fixed the hot water leak? You want to make sure you don't have a leak somewhere first. It's not likely but it's worth checking. Most of the time ...
