Re: Duct Replacement

I'm far from an expert myself as I just bought my MH a couple months ago. But can you wrap the duct in some insulation?

That might help reduce the expansion/contraction as the temperature wouldn't vary as much.

Re: Insulate under floor

If I don't do the sheets of polystyrene and do either fiberglass or this roxul then I'll have to do the belly wrap too. I'm really confused as to exactly how the BW should be installed. The article I read on this site regarding belly wrap replacement seemed to talk about attaching it to the floor jo...

Re: Bought & installed new outswing MH door. Lockset issue.

Good to hear you have it figured out and working. As many of those latches that I have installed over the years I have not seen that type before. Just goes to the saying that you learn something new everyday. Thanks for posting the pictures of the two different type. Ron You're certainly welcome. S...

Insulate under floor

Hi all! I need to get some insulation put up under my MH before winter hits. I have a handyman who is willing to go under and do it for me and he's charging me a reasonable price for his labor. I'll be paying for materials. Since I wont' be able to get under there and help him and fiberglass/bellywr...

Re: Bought & installed new outswing MH door. Lockset issue.

So do I need a special lock set? If so, can I buy just the latches for the deadbolt and handset and use them with the set I bought? I went back to the store where I bought my door and explained the problem. He told me that these doors take a special latch that's not as wide. He took me over and sho...

Re: Bought & installed new outswing MH door. Lockset issue.

I'm going to take the deadbolt off the door and try putting the bolt through the hole again -- and I'll take a pic of it this time too.

I took a picture of the deadbolt strike plate (on the frame). How am I supposed to make it larger?

Re: Bought & installed new outswing MH door. Lockset issue.

Thanks Ron. I always wondered what purpose that straight piece served.

But as far as drilling for the deadbolt, the door and door frame were drilled for handset and deadbolt.

This is one of those out swing doors designed for mobile homes.

Bought & installed new outswing MH door. Lockset issue....

I installed my new outswing door today. I bought a lockset at Menards (Dexter brand, aged bronze lever handset and deadbolt) because I like how this lockset looks. They both installed fine and the handset DOES latch. But the deadbolt won't go in the deadbolt hole in the frame. It's not simply a matt...

Re: Ordering outswing door. Have questions....

Check the articles section of the site for instructions on how to cut a full size door down. There are full size outswing doors, but I would do some measuring to see if an inswing would be possible. Greg I'm not interested in cutting it down and there's no way an inswing would work. The door would ...

Re: (DID Search)Question RE installing new secondary main in

Usually the main comes in near the water heater. In my case when the home was originally set up (22 years ago) the installer took a shortcut and opened the belly under the kitchen sink to save some tubing. Greg The WH is all the way at the back and the water line comes out of the ground midway back...

Re: Breaker Box

Often fires start as a result of other problems such as power strips, bad connections inside of outlet/switch boxes. True -- I guess in that case, it's not a matter of the breaker panel not being big enough. That's a case of the outlet itself having too much plugged in to it. The breaker saw that t...

Re: Install regular house front door?

Thanks Ron. I knew most of that for normal houses. I thought maybe the smaller studs might make it so that I'd need to some extra bracing somewhere to support having a heavy wooden door.

Re: Ordering outswing door. Have questions....

I'm planning to convert the front door to regular door. But this is the back door it's an outswing and due to the hallway width, it has to stay that way. I didn't think regular door was even an option in that case.
