Re: Replacing old Poly stuff with PEX, have ?

Here in beautiful Northern California some off the stores sell "Gator Grips and Gator Bytes and they are not approved for non access installations. They look just like Shark Bite but the quality is lacking. The plumbing code only allows Shark Bite fittings, I have only been able to find them at...

Refridgerator Floor 008.jpg Refridgerator Floor 006.jpg Greg Not sure if your asking about the brass or plastic fittings? The one caused all the damage in our home are the plastic type made by a company called Flairit http://www.flairit.com/ They said they did not install them and can not be respon...

Re: Replacing old Poly stuff with PEX, have ?

Try to use fittings that can be removed , replaced or adjusted if need be. Many fittings on the market must be cut off to replace which makes your tubing runs to short. Plan for the future by using fittings that can be removed with out much difficulty. I have 2006 Karsten home, in 2012 and 2013 we h...

Re: Painting Plywood Exterior

I would say it depends on the color and the undercoat. I recently finished painting our home, just my wife and I, 27x60 double wide,I used both methods. We have hardy panel with rough cut window and eve trim. The roller method worked ok but as the paint dried we discovered we needed a second coat. T...

Again no one said it was water proof.
I guess your definition of quickly depends on what your definition of is is.

Re: insulating osb board underpinning

I do not see that anybody said OSB was water proof, none of the these posts make that statement. Moisture resistant is a long way from water proof. The statement OSB will rot quickly when exposed to moisture is simply incorrect. That being said I would not use OSB for skirting around a mobile home, ...

Re: insulating osb board underpinning

Properties OSB, closeup of corner. Adjustments to the manufacturing process can impart differences in thickness, panel size, strength, and rigidity. OSB panels have no internal gaps or voids, and are water-resistant, although they do require additional membranes to achieve impermeability to water an...

Re: insulating osb board underpinning

Not about Particle board. The statement was made " OSB will rot quickly if exposed to moisture"
is far from a being correct and needs to be corrected. OSB is more durable than plywood.

Re: insulating osb board underpinning

I might be missing something here. All of the OSB I have used is resistant to moisture damage. I found some 2x2 pieces in the dirt around our home , we bought this place 4 years ago, anyway the OSB is still good, made an impression on me. The sub floor is more like MDF or particleboard, it seems lik...

leveling a home

Is there any feed back on using the plastic ABS wedges as opposed to the oak wedges . I have had some wood wedges fall out after about 5 years since the home was originally set up. I inspected the wood and found compression lines or areas of compression .
Any feed Back ??
Thanks

Paint sprayer

Hi, I am asking for some firsthand reviews of paint sprayers , I would like an all purpose model for inside/outside, latex and clear lacquer, easy to use.
Make and model would be appreciated.

Thanks

Re: removing without hurting?

The RED DEVIL ,is the type I use a lot works great> The( EASY PAINTE) I have not tried that one, I also use the EDGE PAINTER by Sureline works great also. The trick with either one is keep them clean. The painters edge 24" stainless must be wiped clean after you remove it each time DO NOT SLIDE...

Re: removing without hurting?

I have had good luck with "painters edge" I have several from 36" down to 6" and if I need one smaller I use a putty knife as an edge guide. You can also use a wide 24" drywall trowel. I have also used the edge guide painter from "Sure" practice first but works ver...
