Re: Sweating toilet tank

I did a quick internet search for sweating toilet, (luckily, only home repair stuff came up lol) and it suggests the approach of a mixing valve and hot and cold water supply, so that you can shut off the hot water feed when the humidity is low and the toilet does not sweat. the thing was called a te...

Re: Complete Rehab

also, in the planning phase, maybe do the roooms farthest from the exit first, to limit dragging debris through finished rooms..

paint before redoing flooring....

redo floors last, so not dragging debris across them....

I personally would go with a flair it brand coupler if it is going to be inside the home... the ones I mean are like this for ...

Re: Recent break in...in our park

the usual extra security locks are either a screw type device that screws onto the edge of the window track, or a piece of wood or metal put into the track to prevent the window from sliding in the track.....

are these house windows, or mobile home windows?

Re: My Remodel Story

Be glad the trim product didn't stick... I used it on a tub in my apartment building, 6 months later the sticky putty leaked out from the plastic seal, I had to take a weekend to clean it up, and then use caulk.... Thanks for sharing about the dishwasher tray, I will look for that feature if I ever ...

Re: My Remodel Story

only thing I would have done different or did not see... I like a water resistant area in front of kitchen sink and dishwasher and exterior doors... 2 to 2 1/2 feet wide, and running maybe 8 inches beyond where the sink and dish washer is... or the length of the counter.... either a vinyl type produ...

shark bites

I know everyone will gasp, but I had a shark bite fail, it probably froze.... it was installed correctly...It leaked in the middle of the piece, above the handle, not where parts where the pipes pop in... The store replaced it for free, but we all were puzzled at that, it was the first one failing I...

one other thing to check for.... make sure there are no gfi outlets on the circuit and that they are not tripped.... a friend of mines outdoor outlet was getting wet, and was causing the gfi outlet inside the garage to trip because it was on the same circuit, which in turn was doing something strang...

Re: exterior sidewall range vent

maybe get the molding that is water proof (it is white, made of pvc, it is for bathrooms, and some is for garage doors) and make your own flange/frame around the new vent.... install it with screws and caulk...? just an idea.... likely to last longer than wood....

Re: Bathtub Removal

cutting the first access panel is the hardest... I had to cut into a wall recently in a home just to get access to where the pipes come up from the underbelly to the water heater, to put spray foam insulation in.... it was a highway for the mice.... A piece of 1/4 luann, paint, and a strip of moldin...
