Used or left over

I was just wondering if anyone ever heard of any places that sell parts of mobile homes, such as carports, decks, etc. Like if someone was to move out, or the home is being torn down, and they have a deck, or awnings, or a carport in decent shape, they would set that aside, and sell it, then tear do...

heat tape blues

Well a while back I was posting about having to replace my heat tape. The estimate from one company was $185. (I also got another estimate for $330!) so I had my brother do it. I got the flat heat tape from the store, with a thermostate, that is supposed to come on at the freeze temp. he put that on...

RE: HEAT TAPE

I'll gladly pay a few bucks more for better, though I'm not sure where a mobile home place/store is in my area. I know there is one that has hot water tanks and steps and larger items like furnance parts, I'll call them tonight and see if they have heat tape.

RE: Home Depot and Lowes

I remember over 10 years ago, near my place we had a Home Quarters....I don't think there are any around anymore, anyway, I was returning a nice motion sensor brass porch light I got for my birthday, I found an apartment and was moving from my house. I didn't have the receipt, (though their price st...

RE: HEAT TAPE

Oh, and also when I have looked under there, I think the insulation over the pipes is that black styro foamee looking kind that is like long, and has a split where it fits over the pipe. I'll have to read the Heat cable package to see if I can put that same kind back over the new.

RE: HEAT TAPE

Hi Archie. The tape I was probably going to get is from Lowes. It says, "Install straight on pipe, no spiraling requred on most size pipes." I do know your not supposed to overlap it on itself, that could be dangerous. And it says Built in thermostat automatically turns cable on and off ba...

RE: HEAT TAPE

Hi Yanita....I do have both a friend and a brother who are willing to do it....And they have both told me it's fairly simple, though they've never done it before! I think I may just be brave and let them try. The old stuff is still there, so they could just see where that was/goes.... and just remov...

HEAT TAPE

I was told last winter, by the guys who came to thaw my frozen pipes, that my heat tape was not working. They gave me an estimate of $185 I think. And I thought that was high, but who am I to know. So I just called another place, that comes around and puts flyers on our doors, how much to install he...

RE: Heat tape extension cord

The only one I have like the picture is in my bathroom also. And that one is fine. None of the other outlets have that. They are just plain.

RE: Heat tape extension cord

Thanks I'll look when I get home, I'm at work now. But it doesn't look like the picture above, it's like an older one I guess, a double one with the little flip covers that flip/snap over it when your not using it. I checked my circut breaker box and all are fine, and that's the only thing that's no...

Heat tape extension cord

My outside outlet is not working. That is where I plugged in my heat tape. I was reading an article that said NOT to use an extension cord for heat tape. But that is what I was planning to do, knowing my outlet outside is not working. Not I don't know what to do? I was planning on using the big oran...

RE: ISO magnetic fan

I have one of these fans above my stove. I am curious as to how they work. It is a neat little thing, though I hardly ever use it, but what does "magnetic" mean?

roof goo

Sorry for lack of a better term, but I need to re cover my roof with the buckets of gooey stuff, I don't know what it's called. And since I myself am not going to be doing the work, I guess I'm tossing around having a professional do it, or just my brother and his friend, who have good intentions, b...
