RE: Doggie By-products

How about a Doggy Dooley? It's a container with a domed top, and I would imagine, no bottom, that you drop into a hole in the ground, (that you've dug, of course). You add enzymes and it's supposed to work like a septic tank, I think. You could put it close to the home. Here's link to products http:...

RE: Room AC's plus fans?

JD, I have only a pair of parakeets, and a pair of cockatiels, at the moment. The 'tiels are mated, the 'keets are platonic friends. LOL, they do get noisy, but it's music to my ears. :) Having only four is not hard to keep clean. They have freedom in their own room, during the day, and are caged on...

RE: Room AC's plus fans?

Since adding more BTU's is not an option, it seems that adding a fan at floor level, to suck in cold , and using a small fan at top of room to expel hot air is the way to go? That should keep air moving, so room isn't stifling. I already have the small one used basically used the same way to move wa...

Room AC's plus fans?

I put this here, because it's not about repair. It's about science. (maybe) My home is 14x70. Kitchen at one end. Bedroom at other. Two bedrooms and one bath, off hallway. Middle rooms face South, with one window each. Kitchen window AC is 7800 BTU. Effectively cools kitchen and LR. Bedroom is 5000....

RE: More Water Heater

Thank you Everybody for advice. I've called plumber, and am waiting for callback. I really needed that push. Since my hubby died, big things like this terrify me. He was an electrician, and knew everything, in my opinion. :) Maureen, I didn't realize we got tax breaks. I thought just stick-builts di...

RE: More Water Heater

Oh man, now Robert's got my heart pounding with fear again.
So I guess that means I better do it now. I really don't want to come home to my house flooded, and the WH fallen thru to the ground.
Besides my old heart can't take the anxiety. *rolls eyes*

More Water Heater

Hi All. What makes me think I already know the answer to this? My electric water heater is 20 years old. One time, we had to change the elements. About 5 years ago, I had it drained and the gunk removed. I have extremely hard water. I've had no trouble with it so far. Checked for leaks....none. Ques...

RE: How did you find this great site

I've been lurking on here for several years. I don't post much, because I don't have advice. Sure do enjoy reading the advice though.
My daughter sent me the link.

MY hubby installed aluminum gutters when the home was new.
They lasted about 15 years, before the brackets finally gave out.
I had professionals install vinyl ( I think that's what it is) and they are solid, no trouble at all.
