RE: Tankless Hot Water Heater

One of the residents of the park I live in has a tankless water heater. It is made by Rinnai, I don't know the specs but it is very small in comparison to a regular water heater. It is about the size of a suitcase. They have not had the issue of it shutting off, probably because we have very good wa...

RE: To many mice!

I don't like mice and that is why I have a CAT. My cat likes mice. As a matter of fact my cat will use the poor little mousie as a play toy for a while before he finishes it off. I'd rather have the cat and an occasional mouse corpse than not have the cat and see or hear little mice running around.

RE: Whirlpool tub- Possible problems, suggestions?

Yanita pointed out some excellent points. When I bought this mobile home, one of the features that really excited me was the 60 X 42 deep bathtub in the master bedroom. Then I figured out that I didn't have enough hot water to fill it. An upgrade on the water heater took care of that. Lucky fo...

RE: Are waterbeds and mobile homes compatible?

We have two waterbeds in our single wide (14 X 70) without issue. I wouldn't worry so much about the leakage issue as long as you have a really good liner. The purpose of the liner is to hold the water in the event of a mattress failure. We have had two leeks since my daughter got her bed. One cause...

RE: commercial tin roof on older double wide ?

I wish this mobile home had a metal roof. But alas I have a two shingle roofs overhead. My deck has a metal roof and I love to sit out on it when the rain is pouring down.

RE: Get me out of this bind and I promise I'll do better!

Many years ago, I lived in St. Joseph, Missouri and we had this problem. Knowing that the Missouri River was going to reach us but not when we bought a truck load of cribbing and with the help of two jacks raised our house (built on a crawlspace) almost six feet in two days. The water level reached ...

RE: Overflowing Commode

I bought the toilet all in one box from Home Depot. The tank is still separate but you buy it all for one price including the seat. I think Greg is right about something being lodged in the toilet itself because I haven't had a lick of problems since replacing the toilet so it couldn't have been the...

RE: Getting rid of cigarette smell!

My home is a 1987 and the previous owners obviously smoked heavily and never bothered to clean much. I hate the smell of smoke. I painted all the ceilings and the smell was almost all gone. I elected to paint most of the walls too but the ceilings are where most of the smells were. This paint will w...

RE: Overflowing Commode

I had the EXACT same situation with the toilet in the master bathroom of this trailer when I bought it back in April. Only mine did it about once out of every four flushes. When I opened my tank on the back of the toilet I would find the black flap open and water pouring into the bowl. It would cont...

RE: Light Switches

Wow Harry, now that I've read that link I can implement what Greg suggested and actually put boxes behind these things. The idea of wood shims is an excellent solution. I'm going to be changing out switches (installing the boxes) and plugs for days. In every house I've ever lived in those plastic bo...

RE: Light Switches

Thanks Harry I'll be checking out that link. Greg, I've done my share of replacing switches, plugs, etc. but some of these light switches and plugs are in locations where there is no stud to attach a box to. Right now, I really don't feel like replacing all the VOG with Drywall to fix that issue. It...

Light Switches

My mobile home is one that was built without using the standard metal or plastic box to mount the switches or plugs. The switches actually are secured to the underside of the drywall when you tighten the two screws on the front. These switches are now yellowed with age and some are a bit loose, etc....

RE: 1989-where is my water heater?

I searched for a week all over my 1987 Redman for the water heater. I felt like an idiot and didn't want to tell anyone I couldn't find it. No access panels from the outside of the home. Too low to the ground, so crawling under the trailer to follow PVC was out. I searched every closet, no dice. Fin...

RE: Sometimes it pays to complain!!

Y'all are lucky. Here we have but one option for cable, high speed internet, electricity, gas, trash pick up, water and sewer. They all come from the city. Digital cable, maybe in 10 years. There is this satellite option for television but then you have to have converters on every tv which means mor...

RE: Adding a basement to a double wide?

You know there are companies that sell a shelter that they bring out to your house on a truck and bury in your yard. When I was a kid living in Missouri we had a full basement under the house but there was this shelter out in the yard. I kind of became a shed for us.
