Re: laminate flooring at marriage seam

I found the "issue". I pulled out all the carpet (and gladly burned it to a cinder!) At the marriage seam, the edges of the crappy OSB sub-floor are raised up - a full 1/4 inch in some places. I don't think it is due to water as there are no other indicators of water damage. But! The hot w...

Re: roof bows??'s

First off, get some kind of water pump and get the weight off the roof! As for finding some one to work on it - good luck. Most contractors run the other way because of the P for POOR construction standards used by the mobile home industry. Bear in mind, these things are designed to last about 20 ye...

Re: Kitchen lighting---I want recessed though

There are super thin (like less than 3") recessed lights (LED) so i doubt they would cause any interference with the roof stuff. But! The problem is getting power to any locations that aren't "in line" with the existing fixtures. Cutting new holes in the ceiling and hoping to be able ...

Re: Wifi belly side temperature monitor

As most everybody knows - Texas got caught in a full fledge winter freeze out that left many, many dead - and even more pipes busted with homes flooded. And i am sooooo very glad i installed those remote sensors. I lost power for about 6 hours the first nite of the freeze. Man oh man - did it ever g...

Re: Advice on exterior painting, please....

Generally speaking - paint is paint is paint. I've used everything from the high grade Bennie Moore (the stuff is like yogurt!) to the bargain bin apartment maintenance paint at the big boxes (the stuff is like water!). And while the Bennie Moore paint was a pleasure to work with - it really didn't ...

Re: Wifi belly side temperature monitor

have now had all of the sensors in place for a few weeks. Sensor #1 is hanging right under the eve of the house. Sensor #2 is hanging in the workshop Sensor #3 is hanging about 1.5 ft in from the skirting (right under my kitchen at the water lines) All three are reporting temps that are within 1° of...

Re: Wifi belly side temperature monitor

Ok...got the unit today and immediately set it up. It is literally just installing batteries and that's it. (NOTE: each sender uses 2 of the AAA's....so 6 total, and the receiver unit users 3 of the AAA's)(total of 9 batteries) FWIW - install the batteries in the senders first. Then the main unit. G...

Re: Wifi belly side temperature monitor

I found one on Amazon that looks like it will work well - and it has a very good 4.5 star rating. It is 3 outdoor channels + indoor temp+humidity. The 3 outdoor channels will allow me to put one outside, one in my workshop, and put one under the house. I'll update this post after installing and usin...

Re: laminate flooring at marriage seam

Place was re-leveled this last year. I also had the cross-corner braces installed on all 4 corners. The 'ridge' at the seam has always been there - but hidden by the carpeting. I've crawled down under - and the seam itself appears to be blocked quite well, so I don't know why there is a ridge. That ...

laminate flooring at marriage seam

I'm wanting to tear out a couple of rooms of carpet and install laminate flooring. The only place i have concerns is in the living room where the marriage seams come together. I have seen the "levelness" of this vary over the years, so am wondering how well laminate flooring is gonna hold ...

Wifi belly side temperature monitor

Has anybody used one of these wifi thermometer/humidity digital units and placed one of the sensors under the house? While humidity is always a concern - it would be nice to know what the temp is down under - especially during the winter. I'm hoping I can find one that starts beeping if a low temper...

Re: Removing HVAC and ductwork

Apologies for not having seen this sooner!! i completely removed ALL of the bottom side ducting - including the entire belly and insulation. Critters had got into the belly - and the ducting looked like swiss cheese. It took some doing, but I was able to re-configure the ducting so that all of it st...

Re: Mobile home leveling questions..

Verify that the floor joists are level at their ends. The outriggers offer a good amount of support, but it is the floor joists that actually support the weight of the walls - and the floor joists are set up in a cantilever. While the beams do provide primary support to the floor joists - the ends o...

Re: Mobile home leveling questions..

I spoke too soon. In the store - there is a re-leveling kit listed - but the link to Amazon goes off to some goofy stuff that has nothing to do with re-leveling. Take a sheet of paper on a clip board - and you are going to make a "map" of all the block stacks under your place. Once you hav...
