Insurance companies don't always debate claims. Always try to do business with companies that are rated a A++ financially by Am best. The better a company is doing financially the lower frequency of problems paying out claims.

Yanita, here in Iowa, we only have mulberry trees. I've never seen a mulberry bush. Though we have excellent dirt here as well.

Our homes value went from 28k when we bought it with the land 5 years ago to 128k now. It was a good investment. :~) We couldn't have gotten a home this size or this nice for the price. Our home is now on par with value, if not higher, with our regular stick neighbors. We didn't put it in just for t...

RE: Adding a basement to a double wide?

Two years ago today we started to add our basement. Today we have a beautiful master suite, a media room, guest room, a powder room and an additionally laundry room. Cost of project = 35k The piece of mind to know we're safe in a tornado = priceless. I think I have pictures uploaded here. It was 9k ...

Call his supervisor. I'd also get a copy of the policy and scan through it. Was the damage caused by vandalism? Or are they maintaining it was caused by vandalism? That's the only instance where they could require you to call the police.

I've wondered the same thing. What was our MBR before the basement addition is our dining room which is too small to be of much use. It would be better served if it was part of the living room but the height differences in the two rooms would make it impossible.

RE: Laminate Flooring Question

We put laminate in our basement. It is in the media room, our master bedroom and closet and the guest room. I really like it. In fact, seeing the dirt and grime it accumulates makes me hate having carpet upstairs now. The biggest problem with it is the amount of work and cleaning products it took me...

The number of employees a company has determines whether they fall into ADA guidelines, at least as an employer. It may be different if it's a housing situation.
I'd contact a local human service agency to find out.

When we had one of those at our first trailer, I put in some shirred lace curtains on little rods and had them attached top and bottom. A idea I played with was a small skinny stained glass thing that could be glued into the window. It ended up that we replaced the door. It was a lot more economical...

RE: Tin can is all mine now

Well, we own the cottage next door outright, at least kind of. I took a loan out of my 401k. I figured I could do better with it than let it stay in the market (and boy was I right on that) Too bad I couldn't have taken out more. DH just bought another neighbors land. This comes with a dumpy ...

No, renters would need to get their own renters policy to have thier possessions covered.

In our particular situation though, this particular home is fully furnished already, so the renters (which will be my son, his girl and thier baby to be) may be considered covered on our own HO policy.

That would be a normal HO policy with a theft exclusion not a different sort of policy.

Dave, Here's a link http://www.solveyourproblem.com/insurance/dwelling_fire_insurance_vs_homeowners_insurance.shtml You may want to investigate having contents insurance covered on a separate policy if they want to go that route. It's possible that they'd give you a multi line discount. It could be ...

I believe because Harris County is prone to flooding. Some of it, from what I understand is below sea level. Any time you have a claim it will affect your rate on auto insurance minimally for three years and HO insurance can be longer. It's not so much about the claim itself but the likelihood of yo...

We have tv's over two fireplaces. They are too tall for comfortable viewing unless the room is very large. Be prepared for sore necks.
