RE: pic for JD

OK, now I see. I would leave that eave trim on. You could check it very closely for possible leaks and then paint it to match your new siding, trim or gutter. I think you will find that the aluminum siding will just pull out from under the eave trim when you remove the screws in the siding. I would ...

Also you can try reducing the jpg file down to the 115x115 and then save the file as a gif file. This will get the file size down no problem. My avatar is a gif file.

RE: new exterior walls

Hey Troyster, Oooo look! A new upload picture button. I have not seen that before. If you could, please post the pick, if not with that button then in your personal album. I really need to get a better idea of what the profile is on this 2" fascia trim. You seem to have a very good grasp of wha...

RE: new exterior walls

Hey Troyster, To really know how to answer the specific question, it would be good to know what kind of roof you have and how it is connected at the exterior wall. Profiles are good. It sounds like you have a good general plan on installing the siding. I'm sure you realize that you can evaluate the ...

RE: Considering buying a fixer upper

Hi challa, A lot would depend on to what degree of repair you are willing to do and be satisfied with. I repair mobile homes for a living. I made a very quick list of the items you mentioned and figured minimum costs in very generalized terms (since I did not see this home) to fix things correctly t...

RE: Hanging plants

Hi Yanita, Putting the entire planter in water, what a great idea. I really know zip about planting, gardening and such. For these plants I used potting soil, some potted plant food and some white granular stuff that is supposed to help with water. Put a good layer of fine bark like mulch on the top...

RE: New Door Problems

72" door sounds like an outswing. The ones we get are made by Phillips or Active. They come 1-3/8" thick with a small amount of wood blocking at the knob/deadbolt area. We used to order them with deadbolts and knobs from the factory, but they were such junk and constantly had problems stic...

RE: exterior wall metal

Nothing wrong with using one piece of MH aluminum siding on the wall. Sounds like I would have done the same thing. All of the pieces may have just been gingerbread design. The aluminum siding should have some sort of a pattern of ribs in it to keep it from "oil canning" . Usually the top ...

RE: Hanging plants

I'll try the mulch. That will probably help. We are out working all day, so we aren't here for a second dose of water. To set the plants to get water more than once a day, I will need to run a separate trunk line out there. Right now they are tapped into the line to the hedges. Too much water and th...

RE: Music in profiles

Yeah, I am not having much luck with it either. First I tried html to a file I have at another server. Then from Sylvia's suggestion I put just the url to the wav file. All I got was a large Quicktime logo. So I used a converter and converted it to mp3. Then I got a small Quicktime logo and and a th...

Hanging plants

Went out and got a bunch of perennials and these hanging basket things today. The basket is a decorative powder coated black wire thing that supports a mat of coconut husk stuff. I am hoping that the moss looking coconut stuff will hold more moisture for the plants through the day. Last year we boug...

RE: Neighbors barking dogs

A certain amount of daytime barking is normal. Dogs bark at events like people approaching the property, other dogs or animals coming around, etc. But incessant barking, especially late evening, night and early morning hours, is the responsibility of the owner. I would not blindside a neighbor with ...

RE: Saying Hi Everyone,

That would depend on what graphics software you have. If you have a PC, there is minimal tools with Paint. Click Image the Skew/Stretch and you can enter percentages that you want width & height changed to. Not good for a 640x480 reducing to 100x100. You can email me any pic and I will photoshop...

RE: Walls

National Gypsum has the Durasan wall board product. The link below goes to the "Find a Dealer" page. Finding a match to existing wall board is pretty tough. Depending on how old the home is, the manufacturer may still have your style in stock and is happy to sell it to you. Hopefully, the ...
