Re: Replacing Siding -- What Is This??

Looks to me to be a frieze board. A decorative element.

It seems my first post didn't go, so if this is a duplicate just ignore it.

Levelling block direction question

I know they are supposed to be perpendicular to the frame rails, but what is the logic behind that?

Re: New Siding - Any Advice?

I redid all my siding. It was vinyl and I replaced it with vinyl. The original was pretty cheap and ugly. I did part in Gentec which, despite being a premium siding, was weak and split in the cold. The regular stuff from the lumber store is fairing better. I would suggest the following as this is wh...

Re: Hi again, I'm still around

I'm not pulling down my fence. In Ontario they cannot discriminate on the pet thing, viewing them as family members, within reason of course. They are stipulating that dogs aren't allowed outside between 10 pm and 7 am, but if my dog wakes 4 am needing to go for a pee, that is what is going to happe...

Re: wood help..

A bit late in the game, but a butt joint is hard to conceal. If the pieces met with a mitre cut it would have been easier. Not sure how I would contend with the hard edges you have created. If you are painting it perhaps some latex caulking.

Re: Hi again, I'm still around

One of the things they have in the new "rules" is to show proof of insurance every year. Totally not required according to the LTA here, and no rule that says they can enforce such a measure....unless of course, you sign it, indicating that you agree to those terms and conditions. Another ...

Re: Hi again, I'm still around

We got a big document to sign.....It says park rules but looks more like a lease agreement. Lots of things in there we don't agree with and are not enforced by the Landlord/Tenant act here so we are not signing it and going to keep on a month to month as we have for the last 14 years. No word on the...

Re: Hi again, I'm still around

Yes, I will keep an eye on that...The park has only been in new hands since the new year and the owner is saying all the right things so far. He has another park he took over a while ago and from my research he cleaned it up a lot and people are pretty happy there. Beats the "nothing" the ...

Hi again, I'm still around

Gosh, I have not been here for a long while. I hope every one is doing well. I have been busy but not with home repairs, thus my absence. Anyway, we have been in out mobile home for over 14 years now and we love it still. There have been issues in the past with water and the land owner but that has ...

I guess I ought to have said I have cathedral ceilings throughout. Sorry about that. Still, the extra space and venting system improves the home a lot.

Re: Vented Soffits

I put a new roof on my place. I have a peaked roof made of wood, not a metal one. What I did was strip the roof to the trusses. I then added a 2x4 on its edge to the top of each truss. I cut them longer for a larger eave overhang. Then sheathed with 5/8 T&G, Ice and water shield and shingles. I ...

Re: Acrylic kitchen sink?

FWIW, we put in an acrylic sink, and we like it. It does get some coffee staining, but it bleaches out. We bought it at a yard sale for $45 which is about 90% off retail. It hung around for about a year before it got installed. Same with the tile, $5 for all of it and we have that much left over, ag...
