Pictures of laminate flooring...

Okay, I'm finally uploading pictures of our new laminate flooring. We actually got the hall done last fall, but I wanted to wait and post pictures of the hall and living room together. I'll put before and after pics in my album, but I'll just post the after pics here. I hope nobody thinks I'm terrib...

RE: Rhododendrons and other rustic gardens

Busybee, I really like the flowers planted in the tree trunks. That's really cute. Did you plant directly in them, or do you have pots in there? I am just wondering how long they might be expected to last, with potting soil in them. I've got a few dead trees that need to come down - now I know what ...

RE: My telephone booth shower stall

We have a shower similar to this - I hate the thing. My husband showers and I take a bath, love my big tub! He has had back surgery twice and his right foot doesn't work right, so he has a problem bathing his feet and legs. The shower is small enough, he puts his head against the wall for a prop and...

RE: Have you regretted painting kitchen cabinets?

Yanita, I was just wondering, because painting my ugly brown "fake wood" kitchen cabinets is definitely on my to-do list down the road. The frame itself, above and below the doors - what to do with that? I was hoping all sanding could be done outside, to cut down on sawdust mess, but there...

RE: Laminate Flooring Question

We put laminate down in our hall last fall, and I love love love it! It is so easy to clean, and it always looks great. I live in Louisiana, so our winters are very mild. It was colder to walk on than the carpet, but since our winters are so mild, and it's a hallway, it's no big deal. I bought enoug...

RE: Deck vs. Porch

Hi! My hubby and I built our front porch this past spring. There's a pic of it in my gallery, if you want to take a look. It was a lot of work. We built it in about 3 days. It's not attached to our mh anywhere. So I guess it's a free standing porch. I cannot remember the exact measurements of it, se...

RE: Mud, Mud, Mud

I totally understand. Hubby and I moved our mh on Jan. 1, 1994. Our lot had been a field that had been disked up. We parked out by the mailbox and walked on cardboard and stepping stones to the front door, until it dried up enough in the spring for him to get a tractor in. Our dirt is clay, and it w...

RE: Finished bathroom pictures...

I used to love that mauve color, but my love for it is GONE! I think I will go back within the next couple of weeks and get the vinyl I'll need for my other bathroom. I'd rather do that, than not be able to get any more of it, even tho they told me it's pretty much a stock item. My luck doesn't run ...

RE: Finished bathroom pictures...

Yanita, I don't know WHAT I was thinking when I ordered that countertop 13 years ago! I must have been delirious at the time! LOL The vinyl I got at a local home improvement store, and I really hope they still have it when I get to the other end with my projects and do our master bathroom. Thanks fo...

Finished bathroom pictures...

We finally finished our bathroom! Woohoo!! Seriously, it was my first taste of doing this kind of work, and I think it turned out pretty well. I'll post a couple of pics here, before and after, but the rest of my pics will be in my album, if you want to take a look. But since I'm on dial-up, I'll tr...

RE: A dumb question about moulding...

Mullion is used to trim small panes of glass in a window? This stuff has to be too wide for that! That's why, when I saw it, I thought "baseboard." Strange. I've found a website that identifies all the types of moulding and what they are used for (for example, if it's used for ceiling trim...

RE: A dumb question about moulding...

Hi, Yep, it is wide enough to cover the gap, and really, with the quarter round on the bottom, you can't tell the mullion looks the same on both sides. For all anybody would know, it was flat at the bottom. I know, I know - research first, then go to the store! I'm bad about jumping the gun, but it'...

A dumb question about moulding...

It's me, again! I am so dumb when it comes to this kind of thing. Okay. Our mh has this really thin, cheap-looking stuff they call baseboard in the rooms that have vinyl floors. Not really sure what it is, but it's coming out. It's already removed from our bathroom project, and burned. Hubby refused...
