Re: Rigid fiberglass ductwork

The one's that I have seen are metal (OK thick tin foil). I have seen metal wrapped with fiberglass, But I don't recall seeing an actual duct made out of fiberglass. Greg Hi Greg, The ducts in my home have the insulation on the inside, but I'm unsure of the outer material...I don't really want to t...

Rigid fiberglass ductwork

Hello All, Are most MH heating duct trunks made of rigid fiberglass board? I believe that is how mine are constructed, unless they are sheet metal lined with rigid fiberglass. I'm thinking of attempting to reseal the duct boots to the main trunk but I'm unsure what products use. Will mastic adhere t...

Re: Miller CMF-80 PO oil leak

Hi Greg, Thanks for the reply...I've tried different nozzles and cleaned up the gun assembly really well. I'm beginning to think that the pump seal may be leaking...it's very hard to locate leaks within the burner housing when you have that fan inside there slinging fuel everywhere...that red dye ma...

Miller CMF-80 PO oil leak

Hi All, Have a slight problem with my K1-fired burner dripping fuel from nozzle(I think) and out the bottom of burner housing/air shutter. Furnace runs fine otherwise, just an inconvenience to keep cleaning burner housing every 3-4 cycles because of the unpleasant smell. Furnace ran leak-free last h...

Re: Oh cr*p, toilet problems!

The 2x4's would be in case not enough sticks out from under the wall to nail to. (Are screws better attaching things horizontally for shear strength?) Anyway, I also intend to beef up the floor by doubling up the boxes formed by the joists and cross pieces, and that should help a lot. Actually I be...

Re: mice deterant

My MH sits on a concrete slab...in my headlights at night I've seen mice leap from the ground to the top of my vinyl skirting and somehow squeeze between the panel and the upper trim piece. I had all the holes in my belly wrap sealed up, yet I still had mice in the house...my solution, a cat. I've h...

Re: Lawn equipment

I just bought a new 17" Toro string trimmer like yours with the curved attachment...to go along with my 15-year old Toro mulching mower...gotta love Toros. I also have 10hp Yard Machine snowblower and Echo chainsaw. Echo is also a good brand...almost went for the Echo string trimmer, but the To...

Window A/C unit

Hi All, Finally decided to buy a small (6000 btu) window A/C for my bedroom. Anyone have any tips on installing in the usual MH metal-framed windows with interior storm window? Right now I just have a 2X8 running the length of the window frame as a base with a 3/4" slot cut in the bottom of the...

Re: Kitchen faucet lines.

Or buy the pex pocket crimper that Mark sells on this site for about $40. I've done all my own plumbing work using the pocket crimper...installed new kitchen faucet and replaced all plastic Qest shutoff valves with brass ones(kitchen and bathroom) and used pex-to-PB fittings. I think with the tees t...

Re: ceiling paint

I used a Kilz product called Kilz Premium, a white pigmented sealer-primer-stainblocker on parts of my ceiling which had ugly brown stains from leaky roof vents. Worked beautifully and was a perfect match to original ceiling white...it has a bit more sheen than the dull surface of the tiles but is h...

Re: Vinyl Upholstered Ceiling Beams??

I'd like to see a photo of that myself...sounds pretty tacky. I have three "fake" beams in my living room running perpendicular to the length of the home constructed of dark wood paneling. They are not totally "aesthetic" as they do house overhead light receptacles at the ends ne...

Re: heat tape check

I always check my Frostex by simply wrapping my hand around the line just after it emerges from the pipes, and feel for warmth. Not sure about the resistance test at the plug, I wouldn't worry. My Frostex Plus heat tape is still going strong after 15 years, along with my 23 year-old water heater, an...

Re: Washing machine shut-off valves

Just bought the dual valve similar to your photo JD and installed it today...a bit pricey but works great...that's one less shutoff valve to worry about. Had to modify the wall box holes a bit to accept the new valve. Discovered an access panel behind the utility room in a hall closet...that made it...

Re: Washing machine shut-off valves

Hi JD, OK, I guess I'll have to seek out the big box stores for a better selection. The dual valve set-up I looked at in the local hardware store had a MPT end labeled as 5/8" and I've never seen a Pex adapter for 5/8" NPT...maybe it was mis-labeled else I need new glasses :) Don't know if...

Washing machine shut-off valves

Greetings all, I've been replacing all my old non-functional Qest shut-off valves under sink fixtures with the usual 12" supply line/shut-off valve/Pex-to-PB connectors, all SharkBite brand stuff. Looking at the Qest washing machine valves, I can't seem to find any SharkBite replacement valve w...
