Ceiling panels and other parts

I just had my (used) mini home delivered and set up yesterday, now it's time to do some fixing up. There are a couple of places where I need to replace the ceiling "panels". I've never seen these before, but then again, I'm not used to mobiles & minis. My question is, can you buy repla...

Re: Getting mini delivered, couple of questions

You are right, putting a barrier down is not common AND it's a good idea. Since you have rain now it may be a good idea and a lot easier to put it down before before the home is in place. Just lay it out and place the home over it and it will be drier for them to do the work when the do the set up....

Re: Getting mini delivered, couple of questions

These guys are experienced, yes, but that's never any guarantee of anything. :-) I got a permit to place it, but there's nothing there about setup or configuration. They got a permit to move it. As far as vapour barrier goes, there's none under it now, and no word about that. I haven't seen it on an...

Getting mini delivered, couple of questions

I am about to get a mini home delivered in the next day or two. It's not in a park; it's actually an old homestead site we bought last year (house burned down 7 years ago). I've had the site filled with good draining sand & gravel and levelled, brought in the well & septic pipes. The mini I ...

Re: EPDM Roof Okay?

It's a 1985 and still had a flat metal roof? Maybe that's a USA thing, I think the last year I've seen for those was 1979 around here (Canada), everything since has had peaked roofs, probably when they started calling them "mini homes" and not "mobile homes". Anyhow, I've heard o...

Re: Bought used mini, need advice

Thanks, never occurred to me to use metal roofing. Seems like the way to go. I was thinking of using metal for the roof too, so maybe I'd co-ordinate it and use the same so it matches - except it has blue siding with white trim, so I have no idea what colour to use lol. I don't see what purpose foam...

Bought used mini, need advice

I've been lurking here for a while and made a few posts in anticipation of what's about to happen; we have now made a deal on a mini home. We've owned a couple of old houses and renovated them, but this is the first structure made in the last 50 years we've ever lived in :D It's a 1987 64' x 16', 3 ...

Re: What's the approximate cost of...

That's a pretty neat idea there JD. We're also considering what to do mrstovar, and I think we've settled on one single wide and then build an addition on right away. The ones we're looking at are 64' x 14' 3 bedroom, but the two smll bedrooms are really small in these setups (usually 6' x 9' or so)...

Re: 1972 mobile repair or replace, opinions?

My question is this: is it in bad shape? Why do you want to upgrade it? If it's all original as you say, but not abused or broken and possibly repairable / restoreable, what's the motivation in doing all the upgrades? From the sounds of it, you might as build a new one. Vintage is "in". Th...

Re: Floor Insulation

Everyone in the construction business is going crazy with spray foam. The first problem with it is the cost; it's really expensive compared to other forms of insulation. But, the bigger problem looming for many that you will probably hear about in a few years is inappropriate application. There's no...

Re: Help with new floor (vinyl planks)

When we had vinyl laid in our place, they nailed 1/4" "meranti" or mahogany plywood down first over the OSB and stuff to give a smooth level surface. Otherwise the OSB wood chips would eventually telegraph through the vinyl. They also put floor leveller between the seams of the plywoo...

Setting up a used MH

Hi all, this is my first time posting here. I'm a MH "noob" you might say, and I have a question about setting one up. I bought some land last year, there's a fairly new well & septic there already, and an old barn. THe house burnt down 6 years ago. The old house was torn down and the ...
