Re: Who has a furnace of approx 46000 BTUs

I think I'd rather add a pellet stove than install a new furnace if it turns out you need more heat.

Re: Groo - roof repair, broken rafter

got the braces in place. they are doing what I want. I gouldn't believe how much more water was pooled up there. I just never seamed to stop running once I got the brace in place I decided to see what it looked like from above, and all I can say is wow, has that roof gone downhill quick. I hauled it...

Re: Replacement windows: Lowes, Home Depot or Window World?

do you have a Menards nearby? I am looking for windows too, and they had tons of them. easily 20 times what HD had in stock with loads of different brands. including some triple paynes that looked decent and were pretty cheap. unfortunately Vinyl wouldn't look good in the house, so we'll probably ho...

Re: Anyone familiar with Diamond replacement windows?

if they are just down the road, ask some people nearby and do a BBB check. might also want to see how well the company is doing too. tons of window places were going gangbusters during the boom. I bet plenty are on the vergw of closing thier doors now. Nothing like having a slight problem then get s...

Re: Who has a furnace of approx 46000 BTUs

how well insulated is the home.

Mine is a comperable sized home and poorly insulated (3" walls), but came with a much larger furnace. I am also in a bit colder of an area too.

Re: Groo - roof repair, broken rafter

Thanks for your concern, but I'm currently only using the home for storage, so It isn't a real big deal. I plan on a wedging in a 2x4 or 2 floor to ceiling. it is also the first truss that broke, 1 in from the front wall, so I think it might not be a regular full joist-pannel-band truss. The bottom ...

Groo - roof repair, broken rafter

I went to clean out my MH and found a similar broken trussleaving a nice puddle up there to put a big bulge in the ceiling. going to have to brace it if I want it to last the winter.

Odd, it survived plenty of snow weight for years and years, and now a little rain is too much for it.

Re: Square patch on bottom of kitchen sink

that undercoat stuff is made to spay up at an angle. I'd tape off around the opening so you don't get that crap were it shows (spread some newspapers too), but I wouldn't remove the sink to do it. If you do, you'd also have to tape off the rim were it sits on the counter. I've seen some old cabinets...

Re: New to this forum and new to mobile homes

electric heat will cost you a fortune in a cold climate. I lived in a fairly new prefab house with electric baseboard for a year while going to Michigan Tech. (I could pick up a Thunder Bay station in my Jeep once I drove up to the highground to give you a general idea on the location) we kept the h...

Re: And what about rats or something like that...

tradition rat poison make the vermin die a thirst death, so if there is no water available they leave to try to find it before they keel over. but you are risking a big stench. at least MHs often have simple ducting whenyou have to try and find the rotten stinker.

Re: Questions:Using my Well Tank AND Storage Tank as a colle

you might want to look at a pool solar heater, but I'm not sure if they are rated for potable water. The pool solar collectors come in small easy to plumb units. If the storage tank hooked up to the heater at the top and bottom of the tank, I believe natual convection should keep it flowing to heat ...

Re: Tub surround

I put marble tile in the kitchen of my old house. The floor had a little flex in it. it all had to be ripped out. If you go with tile (I'd recoment the waterproof tub suround walls instead) pick a small tile, and maybe some sort of a rubberized "grout" that will flex some.

Re: Square patch on bottom of kitchen sink

automotive spray-on rustproofing. you can get it in a spraypaint sized can. Car mfg use a similar sound deadener to the undercoat spayed on under many of the vehicles they want to make quieter. rustproofing does make a difference on cars that don't have much of the sound deadener. They may also be a...
