Why don't you just get the vinyl shutters from Lowe's when you pick up the paint? I believe they'd be quite a bit less expensive.
We have replaced every piece on the mh portion of our home and not one piece came from anywhere other than a home improvement store.

Update!
I'm not exactly sure where this post should go. So, I'm sticking it here. We finally moved into our downstairs! We slept down there the first time last night. We did jump the gun a bit though. We only have about one third of the laminate down but put the bed in that part. :~) The master bath is comp...

RE: getting rid of perinials
Tulips come up only in the spring. Maybe you have some kind of asiatic lily? Perhaps if you post a picture we can ID it. Then put an ad on freecycle for free plants to dig up. They'll likely be gone within the day.

RE: Fires Out West Here...Again!
Fires near you are always scary to me. As a child my aunt Kate used to take me to Mt Rose once per summer after hitting Virginia City. We'd eat pasties from the pasty store at home in Grass Valley that she'd heat up again on the car hood :~) We would also drink water from some secret waterfall that ...

Sorry to hear of the fires and your families loss. BUT, 10% of your possessions are normally covered stored away from home. You could likely file a claim on your own HO policy for the cost of your tools, but it could cause your rates to increase.

What state do you live in? I'm an licensed insurance agent for about 20 states. Even though the person may be insured, at the state minimum it may or may not cover all the damage. State minimums range from 5k to 25K

That's kind of an odd law legally speaking. Animals can be bought and sold, they're property. As a pet owner, of course, they're family to us, but legally I know that the law sees them no differently than a patio set or a car.

That's how we ended up here. The park we were in decided on a one dog rule. We were already a two dog family by then. It would have been similar to asking which child we wanted to get rid of. :x After we bought this place the park owner told us that an exception would have been made for us and we wo...

Sherry, better to put the money in a cookie jar and wait it out and buy it all at the same time. Different boxes will likely have slightly different coloration. Always buy the same lot number when doing a project.

RE: Container gardening Japanese Maples
Yanita this is a peculiar cultivar. It grows 8 ft tall and about the same wide. It's really more of a shrub. It should have pink and pale green mottled leaves. The containers must be protected in winter by taking them in a garage or basement. I'll probably put mine in the unheated, enclosed back por...

Container gardening Japanese Maples
I was at Lowe's last week and saw a floating cloud Japanese Maple at 75% off. It was/is in poor shape. Not only had it not been watered, it was placed in direct sun on concrete. Both pretty serious things apparently for JM's. Has anyone had any experience with them? I bought it a new container. Some...

Update: we spent money that should have gone to more drywall for the master bedroom on a privacy fence. 40 ft of fence on the cottage property and then ran out of money. Guess who we see peeking around the corner? One of the hounds from he!!. *ack* Update two: When getting the permit for the fence, ...

Bluebird I'll bet my cow town is smaller than yours. There is no Bosch repair person for a good three hour drive. We took our chances. I've never had any washer or dryer malfunction. Just dishwashers. (we have a Bosch dishwasher but there are less moving parts in them so I think we're ok)

It would be more expensive than buying a new mh. From my experience with our basement and block walls I'd say it would at least run 25k to do such a thing.
As JD said, it would likely be more dangerous than it would be safe.

I think they want to reside thier home in brick. No, I doubt it would be a great idea. MH's need to be periodically releveled and you need to get under them. If you enclosed your home with bricks it would be impossible.
