RE: MORE SNOW AGAIN (ARGGH)

Yeah Harry...our friends that live near Gainsville were complaining about it being cold there a few weeks ago; they said that the low got down in the 40's a couple of nights. I didn't have much sympathy for them because the low here was near or below 0 without the wind chill and the daytime high her...

Tankless Hot Water Heater

My husband wants to put a natural gas tankless hot water heater in our house, but all of the manuals state that they are not to be used in a mobile home. We have a natural gas furnace but our hot water heater is electric. Does anyone know why they are not supposed to be used in a mobile home? Thanks...

RE: Landscaping, porch and deck pictures or plans

Hi Matthew, I don't have too many pictures of our exterior but I did find a couple. I almost don't want to post the before pictures but I will just to show the difference. In the "before" picture, (when the house was painted blue) we just had a rickety wood deck at the front door and as yo...

RE: Lots of remodeling! Any tips?

Chablis, I had to laugh when I read your post because it sounds like we are in the same boat. We are also in the process of installing the Allure Trafficmaster vinyl planks in our den, dining room and living room this weekend. We live in the country and like the rustic look so we chose the Country P...

Vent Covers

Because it is windy here in the Texas Panhandle today, I can hear the wind whipping around the vents on the roof. That sound just drives me up the wall, so I would like to know if there is any way to cover or wrap the vents on the roof to stop or reduce that sound? I know that years ago, one of our ...

RE: Vinyl Plank Flooring

Hi artcmom, We liked the look of ceramic tile but also were leery of putting it in a mobile home due to the shifting. Our neighbors put ceramic tile down with backerboard and they regret it now because it cracks very badly. We put 18" x 18" luxury vinyl tile down in our laundry room and ki...

RE: outside window molding

Before we replaced our windows with double hung ones, we had the molding that you are describing. We replaced it and we found that the easiest way to do it was to grip it with a pair of needle nose pliers and heat it slightly with a heat gun to soften it and pull it out of the channel while it was s...

RE: Tile for backsplash in kitchen?

Our kitchen had 4x4 ceramic tile backsplash for 16 years. We are in the process of remodeling so we tore up all of the old ceramic tile countertops and backsplash. We replaced the countertops with High Definition laminate from Wilsonart and found some granite mosaic tile that we are going to do the ...

RE: Finished laundry room pictures

Yanita, The laminate that we have has a smooth, matte finish and it shows every speck of dust, every crumb and every drip of water. A friend of mine had the same type in her kitchen one time and she summed it up very well when she said, "It looked good for the first 30 seconds after being moppe...

Finished laundry room pictures

Yanita, Finally! We actually finished the laundry several months ago but I am just now getting around to getting the pictures posted. If you will remember, we had laminate in the laundry room and hated it; so we took it up and put down 18" x 18" stick down tiles from Cryntel. These tiles f...

RE: Fresno State, College World Series

JD, The bass fishing sounds fun...we used to love to drive up to Three Rivers for the day. We lived in Visalia in 1982 and haven't been back for 20 years so I am sure that I would not even recognize it. I have heard that it has grown tremendously. My husband is from California; graduated from Cal Po...

RE: Fresno State, College World Series

Hey JD, We used to live right down the road from you in Visalia. Although we never got to attend a Fresno State baseball game, we had a good time at a Cal Poly (husband's alma mater) verses Fresno State football game one year...many years ago. I couldn't even tell you now what team won the game that...

RE: Adding a basement to a double wide?

WildIrish, Ten years ago, we built a garage and put a basement underneath it. Like Sylvia said, the peace of mind knowing that we have a safe place in the event of a tornado is priceless. Since we are in tornado alley, there are several companies in our town that sell underground tornado shelters. H...
