Re: 78' skyline 12x 60 sw reno

I would suggest you be very cautious investing money in this home in renovations. It is unlileley you will ever get your money back out. To begin you should be investing in adding insulation not doing any cosmetic renovations. It really dosn't appear to be worth doing much beyond simply making it fu...

Bite the bullet and either move the home to dig the piers or set the piers somewhere else and then move the home over that location.

Re: Newbie prepping for resale

In light of the fact that you purchased it only last year why would you not be able to sell it as is for the same price you paid without having to do any work at all. After all you bought it that way for your price so why would there not be someone else willing to do the same.

You may not have had a frozen pipe yet but you will, guaranteed. If it's cold enough to need heat the day will come when it's cold enough to freeze your pipes. When it happens you will wish you had moved the plumbing before you completed your renovation.

Re: 78' skyline 12x 60 sw reno

As far as the roof is concerned I would defiantly go for the peaked. All of the seventies homes in our community have had peeked roofs added and it defiantly is worth the expense. The roof along with new vinyl siding, skirting and new windows/doors will give the appearance of a new home. As far as t...

Re: Inside window trim/frame

I would advise against using MDF trim espically around windows. High moisture levels are bad for MDF and the MDF is so flimsy it followes every bump and wave in the wall making it look bad. Use the finger joint or solid pine prefinished trim if possible. The results will be well worth the extra cost...

Re: Mice in the wall

Just a word of warning, mice carry flees and cats will get flees from mice. Cats also tend to cause a stink when they turn your gardens or under your home into a litter box. If cats are catching mice and are allowed under, or into, your home it is possible for the flees to migrate into your home. As...

Staples will work fine if used with glue. Without glue staples will not hold tight over time and will cause bumps in flooring.

Re: Fastening underlayment to particle board

If you leave the particle board the ply underlay is put down with flooring screws. The under lay is 1/4 inch thick and usually comes with the location of each screw point marked. Once down there is a flooring compound you apply over all the seams and screw heads to get the surface smooth. If you do ...

Re: Kitchen Backsplash

This is one of those products that needs to be viewed from the correct perspective. Obviously they are not ceramic tile and will not likley stand up to extended cleaning as tile would. They are a quick alternative option for a back splash that is less expensive and easy for the home owner to install...

Put the bleach down the line and call the plumber at the same time cause the bleach won't do anything to clear a blocked main line.

Re: Gurgling sound from washing machine drain pipe

Gurgling is caused by one of two things blocked (insuficient air) or blocked drain line. If it's backing up into your sink then it is a blocked drain under the home. You will need to snake the line. However, if you are in a park and your home is on a common septic line sometimes the blockage can be ...
